Unit18: Cinematography

  This scene meets the generic conventions because it shows different angles on the scene and allows the audience to feel what the atmosphere is like in the location. This helps add to the generic conventions because in real short films I have studied it replicates the conventions of how certain camera shots and lighting can change the view of a shot and change the genre of it through the different camera angles and shot types. This footage shows the male being more dominant through being able to pot one off the pool balls. From there being a dryer lighting on the date scene it shows that there can be a comfortable and warm feeling towards the scene and shows how it could connote the genre of romance. Purpose   The purpose of this  short film is to entertain and to show the audience the irony of  today's  society  how you never really know who will end up being part of the LGBTQ+ community and who  will not  be . This story also shows the  saying of ‘don't judge a book by its cover’ for the female stereotypically  view of how women are the ones that are obsessed with  the idea of finding their true love and the stereotypical view of love at first sight.    Form and genr e   This short film is going to be between 5 and 10 minutes in length,  with its style being  social realism , this means that all  events and emotion will be genuine and not overexaggerated. This is  so that the audience may empathise with the characters easier which will draw them into the plot and the story . Settings    We will be  drowning out noise in the background , motion and what  she is  doing to convey a natural routine and  habits  the main reason we would be do this is bec ause it gives a natural feel to this film.   S o ,  the film feels like this the  shots  where  we  look at background are to do with  significant  places or places that are repeated, the mirror street and the table at the jazz café  The settings that we will be using in our short film would be the change in the lighting for example there  w ill be low er light temperatures to create a warmer connotation and atmosphere to the film, this will further add to the genre of the  film. After researching this it has taught me how to set up different apertures, ISO and shutter speed and how they work or how they affect footage.  How you would use different apertures?  You would use different apertures by accessing the camera settings, so for example if you had a new canon camera and you wanted to change the aperture then they have a little scroll wheel on the top of the camera which had aperture labelled as Av, after you have selected aperture on the touch screen there is a line with different aperture settings and you can slide your finger across to chose which aperture you want.
